Earlier this week I had the pleasure to sit in on a virtual press call for Avalon Hill where they talked about some of the new games headed our way this year. I am definitely new to this type of board game and I wont confess to say that I totally understood everything about these games. The games have been around for a while and so for me as a total beginner (I even asked a question to the game designers about ‘ how easy is it to get into a game like this, if you’ve never played one before’ and there answer was the one I wanted to hear. These games in fact are easy to get into if you haven’t played them before which definitely put my mind at ease) For those who have played Talisman before, you will of course be on familiar ground but with some fun new additions to the 5th Edition.
In the Talisman: The Magical Quest Game, 5th Edition (which is for 2-6 players), you set forth on an epic adventure, and are racing to be the first to obtain a Talisman, to reach the Crown of Command in the center of the board, and to defeat the elder dragon to win. Included in the game is a diverse range of characters to choose from and a vast world of possible scenarios. For those like me who aren’t familiar with Talisman. Its a strategy game for teenagers and adults and offers limitless adventures so its not a ‘one day and done’ type of game which is great.
The box includes a large gameboard, 12 Character figures, 12 Character cards, 100 Adventure cards, 24 Spell cards, 18 Purchase cards, 4 Talisman cards, 1 Toad card, 6 Toad tokens, 114 counters, 38 Fate tokens, 12 Alignment tokens, 30 coins, 3 six-sided dice, and an easy-to-follow rulebook (ill definitely need that).
