I remember when i was a kid (yes I can remember that far back) boardgames were a thing in my household. I remember them playing Frustration, Ker Plunk, Hungry Hippos, and of course Monopoly. This was of course before the video game consoles took over pastimes (although the Atari was a thing!) and each Christmas, one of the members of my family were usually gifted a board game from some relative or another. I will admit I don’t play boardgames as much as I used to, but I do still play them from time to time and i love that boardgames are still a thing- and haven’t been wiped out by video consoles and mobile phone games, so when a new boardgame is announced, I like to check it out to see what it is. Recently ive seen the announcement by Hasbro Pulse of the release in September of ‘ Life In Reterra’ which is a great looking game that’s made up of tokens, and cards, and tiles. But what are all those cards, and tokens and tiles for? and what is Life In Reterra?
Designed by Eric Lang, who is also the genius behind such games as Exploding Kittens, and the Fantasy Flight Games (Game of Thrones, and Star Wars) Life In Reterra is a community building game (or actually a rebuilding game) and is set in the not too distant future where the planet has been reclaimed by mother nature. In the game, players each take turns to build up their community, its fun and its strategic, so when playing. Plan carefully! The community with the highest point score wins the game. Points ear earned by building, collecting treasures, winning terrain bonuses and much much more.
But before you head into scoring points, you can first choose one of 3 ready-to-play themed building sets. Which is great as that means the game wont become repetitive. The last game I bought was a Stranger Things edition of Trivial Pursuit and I had so much fun playing that ( I still do) Boardgaming is something I can getting back into, its great to get away from the digital screens and chill out around a table, playing some games and sharing some laughs whilst trying to build the winning civilation.
So if you have Family Game Night’s at your home or whether its something you do when on vacations/holidays, Then Life In Reterra could be something you will want to add to your list of things to buy this September.
Its all wonderfully packaged too and there’s even themed trays to help players organize their building cards and tiles, so you can play right away and have what you’ll need at your fingertips. The set even includes a score pad for easy scoring. The game is suitable for adults and kids from age 10+ and is for for 2 to 4 players.
The game is retailing at £29.99 and you can preorder your edition HERE
