LOCATION.
Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Svalbard translates as ‘the land with the cold coast’ or ‘cold edge’.
TEMPERATURE
During the winter, the sun stays below the horizon for 110 days straight and Svalbard is in complete darkness. The temperatures can range from – 12°C and – 16°C.
RESIDENT
Over 3,000 polar bears and 2,670 humans live in Svalbard. Polar bear spotting is a vital job as they need to keep watch in order for researchers to carry out work.
GLACIER TOURS
