Who is Kevin Howarth

Kevin Howarth is best known for playing complex and dangerous leading roles,
such as Max, the suave serial killer in his breakthrough movie THE LAST
HORROR MOVIE; Peter, the mentally disturbed drifter in SUMMER SCARS;
and Viktor, the psychotic brothel keeper in Paul Hyett’s up-and-coming THE
SEASONING HOUSE.

The youngest of six children, Kevin Howarth was brought up against the backdrop of
Coventry’s car industry, where his father worked for Jaguar and where he himself
was later an apprentice as a mechanical engineer.

A tough childhood (his mother died when he was one year old) was enlightened by his father’s love of old movies,
which Kevin acknowledges planted the seed for his future career. But it wasn’t until
his mid-twenties, after a stint travelling around Europe and a series of dead end jobs,
that a “defining moment” on an empty stage at the RSC’s Swan Theatre would spur
him into becoming an actor.

After graduating with distinction from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art,
he won the role of ‘Max Parry’ in Julian Richards’ critically acclaimed feature THE
LAST HORROR MOVIE (2004). The film went on to win 17 international awards, of
which Kevin won four Best Actor Awards (Best Actor: New York Horror Film Festival;
Buenos Aires Film Festival, Argentina; Eerie Film Festival, USA; Montevideo
Fantastico, Uruguay).

His fruitful partnership with Richards was further vindicated when he won another
Best Actor Award (Best Actor: Austin Fantastic Fest, USA) for his lead performance
as ‘Peter’ in Richard’s well received coming of age movie SUMMER SCARS (2008).
The film went on to pick up ten international awards, including two BAFTA Cymru
Awards.

Kevin can next be seen, alongside Sean Pertwee and Rosie Day, as ‘Viktor’, one of
the three lead roles, in Paul Hyett’s hard-hitting debut feature THE SEASONING
HOUSE, which has a nationwide cinema release in June 2013. The film, a harrowing
war torn exploration of terror and revenge, picked up the Critics Award for Best Film
at Fantasporto 2013.

Kevin also stars in the supernatural western GALLOWWALKERS, in which he plays
‘Kansa’, Wesley Snipes’ nemesis. The film will be released in the US later this year.
Other recent film credits include the thriller BURLESQUE FAIRYTALES, in which he
plays ‘Jimmy Harrison’, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Jim Carter, & Barbara
Flynn and the wacky comedy THE MAGNIFICENT ELEVEN, in which he plays
Vince’, Robert Vaughn’s right hand man.
