Now it is 184 films that I own on original DVD. All UK made films and out of that amount there are perhaps 16 or so that I havent seen.
The latest additions to my collection are as follows.
Local Hero (1983)
Directed by Bill Forsyth. This is the only film EVER to make me walk out of a cinema. Now let me put that into context. I was 12 years old and certainly not a fan of UK talky films about the oil business. But as years went by, I heard so many people talking about how this film is one of the best UK films out there, I always knew the day would come when I would have to give this film another chance. So I vowed that if I saw the film on a DVD shelf again, I would purchase it. Today is that day and the film is now owned by myself.
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (2010)
Directed by Mat Whitecross. He also directed the very impressive Ray Winstone film ‘”Ashes” which I late last month. I have heard all positive things about this Andy Serkis biopic of musician Ian Dury and so just had to pick this one off the shelves. This will be my first viewing of the film.
Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit (1989)
Okay so its technically a TV mini series. But give me a break. The main reason for picking this DVD up is that the show itself was partially filmed on the street where I live. Plus its a good show telling the tale of a girls childhood in a religious household Starring the late Charlotte Coleman who sadly passed away in 2001.
and finally.
A Liars Autobiography (2012)
I am not sure what to expect from this film. Will it be a documentary, an animated film, or a dramatization. Who knows? Well I suppose those who have seen it will know the answer but either way this insight into Monty Python star Graham Chapman will be a good watch, that I am sure.
So. Fellow film fans. Which of these four have you seen? Are they any good? And for your viewing pleasure. Here is the entire list of UK films that I currently own.
What films need to be in my collection. Go on. Pitch me your British Classics
