ICON FILM DISTRIBUTION announces the WORLDWIDE 4K DEBUT of the superb chiller 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, starring Josh Hartnett (Trap, Oppenheimer), on July 27th

The vampire cult classic, based on the groundbreaking graphic novel, returns in stunning 4K resolution and 16bit colour depth, offering an improved viewing experience with never seen before detail. Released as a highly-collectable Limited Edition 4K SteelBook, featuring stunning new artwork by the incredible Suspiria Vilchez, the two-disc dual format set is packed with 6 hours of bonus content, including a new audio commentary and new interviews, and comes with a booklet and poster. The film is also being released with new artwork on Blu-ray and DVD, with the Blu-Ray containing four new interviews.

Directed by David Slade (Hard Candy, Black Mirror), produced by Evil Dead legend Robert Tapert, and based on Steve Niles’ bestselling comic book series, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT is a blood-freezing good time of a horror film, a cross between Assault on Precinct 13 and I Am Legend with a bloody dash of Near Dark. Josh Hartnett (Oppenheimer) is brilliant as an Alaskan sheriff, who with his wife Melissa George (Triangle), team up against a vampire horde led by the magnificently nasty Danny Huston (Ivan’s XTC) in the dark snowy wastes.

Described by The Telegraph ‘a must see’, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT is a film that is ‘gruesomely entertaining’ (Sunday Mirror), featuring a chilling score by Brian Reitzell (Hannibal), atmospheric cinematography by Jo Willems (The Hunger Games), and more vampire mayhem than you can shake a crucifix at.

New restoration by the UK’s leading experts in Film and Television Archive and Restoration, Silver Salt Restoration. In 4K resolution and 16bit colour depth for an improved viewing experience. Captured on the state-of-the-art 13K Director scanner, each frame has been held motionless in gate for optimal imaging and manipulated to achieve the best results. Looking at the differences in special features when comparing the bluray (and the 4k UHD set) to the DVD, its a no brainer that either the 4K or the bluray is the way to go with the inclusion of many more extras. However it is good that the choice of formats is given. However for me, I would definitely opt for the 4K set which comes with the bluray.
