Adapted for the screen and directed by renowned filmmaker Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House), The Life Of Chuck stars Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan and Mark Hamill, alongside an ensemble cast including Jacob Tremblay, Matthew Lillard, Mia Sara and Nick Offerman. 

I knew nothing about The Life Of Chuck before viewing and so went in, not knowing who Chuck was and what sort of life he would be living. With this being a Stephen King story, all bets were off, would Chuck be in a life that’s like Stand By Me, would he be experiencing the life of some of the characters in ‘It’ or The Shawshank Redemption.  I would find out once I started the movie.

What I found was that The Life of Chuck is one of the most charming films of the year and definitely in the conversation of ‘The Best Stephen King Adaptations Ever’  (my favourite still being Stephen Kings The Stand, directed by Mick Garris) The Life of Chuck is a wonderfully strange film that you will fall in love with if you give it your attention. Its wonderfully filmed (as you’d expect from Mike Flanagan), its perfectly cast and the film has some of the most heart warming scenes that you’ll see this year on screen. (clue: dance)  Stephen King adaptations are having a great time in 2025, with The Running Man, The Long Walk, IT: Welcome To Derry, The Monkey, and The Life of Chuck. 

Treat yourself to one of the most original films (yes its based on a very original book) of the year and dim the lights, and experience Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck.
