These look STUNNING! Prepare yourselves for a spine-tingling 1970s double bill like no other, as SCARS OF DRACULA and THE HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN make their worldwide 4K UHD debuts on November 24, with a superb brand new 4K restorations. The Collector’s Editions include stunning new artwork by Johnny Dombrowski, two posters, a 64 page perfect bound booklet featuring new essays and the original press kit, and are packed with extras. Both films were released by Hammer in November 1970 as a double bill in cinemas, billed as ‘the blood-brothers of horror and terror, together in the most terrifying monster shock show of the year’. STUDIOCANAL pays homage to the legendary British horror film production company by releasing both these worldwide 4K UHD debuts on the same day.
Christopher Lee returned to his most famous role – inspired by Bram Stoker’s classic gothic horror novel – for the fifth time in Roy Ward Baker’s (Quatermass and the Pit) SCARS OF DRACULA, the bloodiest entry in the entire series. The film also stars Dennis Waterman (The Sweeney), Jenny Hanley (The Flesh and Blood Show), and genre favourite Patrick Troughton (The Omen); while Hammer legend Jimmy Sangster (The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula) made his directorial debut with THE HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN (based on the groundbreaking Mary Shelley horror novel), a bold experiment in horror comedy that features an outstanding cast, including Hammer film favourites Ralph Bates (Twins of Evil), Kate O’Mara (The Vampire Lovers) and Veronica Carlson (Dracula Has Risen From The Grave), as well as David Prowse (Star Wars) as the Monster, Jon Finch (Frenzy) and Dennis Price (Horror Hospital). This pair of Hammer 1970s classics – with fantastic performances, lashings of blood and superb production values – are a great addition to any Hammer fans collection – and look better than ever before.
