STUDIOCANAL announces a superb 4K restoration of the superb western THE HELLBENDERS as part of the Cult Classics Collection. From cult spaghetti western director Sergio Corbucci (Django), the film – making its UK Blu-ray debut – stars Joseph Cotten (The Third Man, Duel in the Sun) and features a brilliant score by legendary composer Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad and the Ugly). The release on 6 October includes a saddlebag full of extras – including a fascinating commentary from Alex Cox – and comes with four art cards.
Corbucci’s gritty vision of an unforgiving west was chosen by Quentin Tarantino for the First Quentin Tarantino Film Fest in Austin, Texas, in 1996, and it is no surprise it is one of his favourite westerns of all time – with Cotten’s towering lead performance, supporting roles for Aldo Sambrell (For a Few Dollars More) and Al Mulloch (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly), Morricone’s rousing score, and a stunning final act twist, THE HELLBENDERS is an unmissable tale of lust, violence, and extreme vengeance.
