‘Talk To Me’ Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou’s horror hit that had everyone talking is out now on 4K, bluray and Limited Edition from Second Sight Films

I had heard of the film when it was doing the cinema rounds but as with many films, I didnt manage to get to see it on the big screen and so Talk To Me did slip below my radar again as the neverending ‘battle’ to try and see every film out there continues, and as always I fail to keep up to date with the films that are released. However when Second Sight Films popped the film on their release schedule a little while back, I was reminded of the movies title and knew I wanted to catch up with it and what better way (other than on a large cinema screen) to see the film than on a Second Sight Films release (no they sadly don’t pay me to say nice things like that, I say them because I believe it to be true

I went into the viewing of Talk To Me, without knowing anything about the film, other than people had previously said its a really good movie, and that the writer directors have Bring Her Back doing the rounds (which looks great by the way!)  I didn’t know the plot of Talk To Me and so I went in cold! Is Talk To Me as good as people were saying it was? Hell yes it is! Talk To Me is a super creepy tale of a group of friends who meddle in something we the viewers know they shouldn’t be meddling in, but if they didn’t, then there wouldn’t be a film so we are happy to let them meddle as we sit there with our popcorn and drinks and wait for the ensuing chaos and yes chaos comes!

The film is great and I do highly recommend that if you like your creepy atmospheric horrors like It Follows, Hereditary and Don’t Breathe then Talk To Me is for you. That’s not me saying that Talk To Me has the same plot as those three films, but to me they do have the same feel and atmosphere as Talk To Me.  Away from the story and the actual film itself. Second Sight Films have once again done a top notch job on the films restoration, It looks great in 4K and sounds wonderful too! The set is also packed with special features and anyone who’s read any of my articles about physical media, knows how much I love special features! But more on those soon!

If you do want a little bit of a taste of the plot of Talk to Me then ill give that. The film follows a group of teenage friends who take part in a dangerous new party craze, one that uses an embalmed hand (yes you read that right) to open the door to the spirit world. As they push the boundaries more and more, the group get way more than they bargained for when they unleash deadly supernatural forces… with truly shocking consequences. Now whilst this film of course is supernatural, to me it still felt grounded in a real world.

Talk To Me features cast of brilliant young actors including Sophie Wilde (BabygirlBoy Swallows Universe), Alexandra Jensen (BeatThe Moogai) and Joe Bird (RabbitFirst Day), star alongside screen favourites Miranda Otto (The Lord of the RingsThe Thin Red Line) and Zoe Terakes (WentworthThe Office).

I do love going into a film ‘cold’, knowing nothing about it and in this day and age, that’s not always easy with the amount of trailers and social media postings that we see when a film drops into the world- Thankfully I do manage to avoid spoilers (usually) and that made my viewing of Talk To Me even better. I am really hoping that at some point we get a Talk To Me (or perhaps Talk 2 Me) as there is definitely scope to carry on the shenanigans that we see in the movie.  Two Thumbs (non embalmed) Up From Me
