I’ve been a fan of the work of actor Ray Panthaki for years, actually decades, going back to his role in 2002’s 28 Weeks Later where Ray played Private Bedford, then his role in long running BBC soap opera Eastenders which lasted over 160 episodes. Ray was always someone that I enjoyed seeing on screen and through the years I have followed his career through a ton of films and shows many which to this day sit on my DVD shelf and semi often are popped into my DVD player for a revisit. I could easily turn this article into a Top 10 Ray Panthaki roles (spoiler: Marcella, and Boiling Point would be on that list) but I wont. I’m here today typing about not Ray Panthaki the actor, but Ray Panthaki the director who is busy working on his feature directing debut “In Starland” which is also co written by Ray (and Jason Kavan) and is described as ‘a deeply personal, raw, and thought provoking exploration of generational divides and human connection’. Now whilst that description doesn’t really tell me too much about the plot of “In Starland” I already know that I’m excited to see it, and that odds are its going to be great.
Announced in a Variety article (You can read the full article HERE) the news broke that Clarence Maclin, whose debut performance in “Sing Sing” has earned him supporting actor nominations at the BAFTAs, the Critics’ Choice Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards, as well as winning a Gotham Award.
Its early days for casting announcements for “In Starland” but I’m keeping an eye out for more. Actor Ray Panthaki is great! and I am very excited to see Director Ray Panthaki.
