Writer/Director Howard J. Ford delivers another gem of a movie with survival thriller ‘Escape’, arriving on Digital Download from 30th September 2024.

From the writer/director of The Ledge, Never Let Go, The Lockdown Hauntings, and Darkgame comes Escape, a belter of a survival kidnapping, trafficking thriller that’s arriving on Digital Download from 30th September 2024. Howard J Ford has earned himself a place on the list of filmmakers who’s films I get excited for even before Ive seen a clip, trailer or even a poster.  I love how Howard creates an original story that might well be based on something we have seen before, but we haven’t seen it done this way until now! For example. The Ledge, his 2022 mountain climbing thriller starring Brittany Ashworth who finds herself the target of bad guys intent on silencing her after she witnesses them committing a crime.  Sounds like something we have seen a few times yes? Cliffhanger, Vertical Limit, The Eiger Sanction perhaps? Nope. The Ledge is its own thing and is a wonderful tense edge of the seat (or cliff) thriller that I highly recommend you check out if you haven’t seen it.

Now lets get to Escape, the tale of 10 women who find themselves kidnapped and prepared for trafficking into the sex industry by ruthless criminals. From that one line description you may think you know what sort of film you are going to see however its far more than that. Escape is another Howard J Ford gem that I found to be a great evenings entertainment.  The film has a great cast including Sarah Alexandra Marks (Witch, The Caller), Sophie Rankin (Bermondsey Tales:Fall Of The Roman Empire,  DarkGame),Megan Lockhurst ( Zombie Wars), Tiffany Hannam- Daniels ( The Lockdown Hauntings) and Sean Cronin (Bogieville, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, The Mummy Returns) as Andras, the head ‘villain’ of the story. It was also great to see Russell Shaw ( Vindication Swim) and Justin Hayward ( Are We Monsters) as a couple of Detectives in the film.

I don’t want to give away too many plot details for the film as I quite enjoyed watching the film thinking I knew what I was going to see but being pleasantly surprised at where the plot took me instead. Id like you to have the same experience. What I can tell you is that the film for me was a great viewing and if you want to see a quick 90 minute single non franchise original film then Escape is most definitely worth checking out.  I thought the cast were great, especially Sarah Alexander Marks as Karla and Sophie Rankin as Lucy who are standouts in the roles as two of the kidnapped women. Sean Cronin delivers another super fun (and scary) villain role to his growing resume and is perfectly cast as the lead trafficker Andras. I hope Sean had as much fun filming Escape as I did watching him in the role.

I do also have to give a shout out to the look of the film. The cinematography by Travellian Skipaldi (who also filmed Never Let Go, and Adventure Boyz, also Howard J Ford films)  looks great and makes the filming locations stand out wonderfully which adds more tension to the films plot and elevates the film up to the next level.

So put your feet up, dim the lights, turn up the sound on your TV and settle down to check out a gem of a thriller. ‘Escape’

Available on Digital Download in the UK and Ireland from 30th September
