STUDIOCANAL announce a fantastic brand-new restoration of one of my favourite films the legendary cult action comedy CONVOY– ain’t nothing going to get in the way of Kris Kristofferson (Heaven’s Gate) and Ali MacGraw (Love Story) in this 70s classic directed by Sam Peckinpah (The Getaway). As well as a beautifully designed Limited Edition embossed 4K UHD Steelbook edition, packed with brand new extras, the film is also released on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital.

Based upon the smash hit country and western song by C.W.McCall (which reached Number 2 in the UK singles charts), Peckinpah’s road movie about a massive truckers’ convoy features plenty of the director’s trademark slow motion set pieces, a bunch of quotable CB banter (“Breaker one-nine, this here’s the Rubber Duck!”), and a whole lot of smashed-up police cars. I saw this film A LOT when I was growing up. Its a film I never tire of and its a great double bill with something like Smokey And The Bandit. For those young uns out there, the whole CB radio thing might seem a bit alien. But that was the internet before there was the internet. Fun times!

This action favourite and one of my favourite films and it turns out the most successful of Peckinpah’s career – has an incredible supporting cast of some of the greatest character actors to grace the screen, including Ernest Borgnine (Escape From New York), Burt Young (Rocky), Seymour Cassell (In The Soup), and Harry Dean Stanton (Alien). I first saw Convoy in the early 80s on VHS and its a film ive seen dozens of times over the years either on TV broadcasts, VHS or DVD and I still love that movie!  Im very excited to revisit the film in the new bluray format and of course check out the special features (something which didnt exist in the VHS era)

As well as the McCall song, the soundtrack features a host of tunes by country legends including Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle, Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell and Billie Jo Spears.
