101 Films add 80s classic The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982) to its Black Label series this October ( @101FilmsUK )

101 Films are adding the 80s classic The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982) to its Black Label series this October., The debut feature from the legendary Albert Pyun will be available in the UK on 4K UHD & Blu-ray for the first time.

Released at the height of the swashbuckling fantasy craze of the 1980s, the Sword and the Sorcerer was a box office success despite its poor critical reception, launching the career of B-movie icon Albert Pyun. Criminally underseen compared to some of its contemporaries, this epic adventure has all the bloody battles, valiant warriors, fair maidens and savage sorcerers to more than justify its place among the fantasy classics of the decade.

This limited edition release includes both the 4K UHD and Blu-ray versions of the film and is loaded with extra features, including interviews with the late director Albert Pyun, actress Kathleen Beller (Princess Alana), co-writer John Stuckmeyer, editor Marshall Harvey and the special effects team the Chiodo brothers, a director’s commentary and much more (You can see the list of features within this article)

The three discs are enclosed in a limited edition rigid box with brand new artwork, art cards, a classic artwork poster and limited edition booklet with new writing on the film; ‘Cromwell’s Madhouse: The Sword and the Sorcerer Revisited’ by Mat Colegate and ‘The Sword, the Sorcerer and the Visionary’ by Paul Rowlands.
