Are we ready for ‘The First Omen’ Arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on 5th August 2024 from 20th Century Studios ( @20thCenturyUK )

Richard Donner’s 1976 thriller The Omen was not only one of the first horror films I experienced, its also still one of my very favourite horror films of all time. I’ve lost count of how many times ive seen the film over the years but its a lot. I also really do like the follow up Damien:Omen II, and Omen III:The Final Conflict and for me its a near perfect trilogy of films. I skipped Omen IV:The Awakening and was also very wary about the 2006 remake of The Omen. I did watch it, and it was fine but nothing for me is up there with Richard Donners first movie.  So here we are in 2024 and after its cinema run, its time for The First Omen, directed by Arkasha Stevenson (Channel Zero) and starring Nell Tiger Free (“Servant”), Tawkeef Barhom (“Mary Magdalene”), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Ralph Ineson (“The Northman”), and Bill Nighy (“Living”) to head to our homes in August and im very excited!

Directed by Arkasha Stevenson, THE FIRST OMEN is a prequel to the classic horror film franchise.

Set in 1971 and starring Nell Tiger Free (TV’s “Game of Thrones”) as American nun-to-be Margaret, who’s traveling to Rome to take the veil, THE FIRST OMEN reveals the horrific events leading up to Damien’s inception. Fans can delve deeper into the franchise with exclusive behind-the-scenes bonus features.

I do think The First Omen looks pretty good. Its well shot, and I do like that its a prequel to the 1976 film and not a prequel to the remake, so the period setting for The First Omen gets a thumbs up from me. Also thumbs up from me is that there will be some special features on the bluray, and I do enjoy checking out special features on a movie. Announced are the following.

The Mystery of Margaret Featurette  – Join director Arkasha Stevenson and stars Nell Tiger Free, Bill Nighy and Maria Caballero as they dive into the character of Margaret, her relationships with other characters, and how she’s manipulated while trying to solve the film’s horrifying mystery.

The Director’s Vision Featurette – Director Arkasha Stevenson talks about her love of horror films, the opportunity to expand on The Omen legacy, and crafting THE FIRST OMEN entirely through a female lens. She also describes shooting in Rome, and the cast recounts working with Arkasha.

Signs of The First Omen Featurette – Join the director and talented artists as they reveal some of the symbolism within the set designs and the costumes. Learn how the use of practical effects blurs the line between what is real and what is not in THE FIRST OMEN’s terrifying world.

Witness the birth of evil when 20th Century Studios’ THE FIRST OMEN arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on 5th August.
