Writer/Director Neil Johnson (The Time War, Starship Rising) has given scifi fans many treats over the years with his scifi epic movies, whether its invading alien armies (Alien Armageddon), or Firefly-esque space operas (Humanitys End) or the upcoming multi part show The Time War which…….well I wont spoil that for you but it looks amazing! At the moment Neil Johnson is giving film fans a chance to watch his 2016 film Rogue Warrior Robot Fighter in 4k, for free on YouTube.
Rogue Warrior Robot Fighter stars Tracey Birdsall (Who’s Jenna, Dawn of the Crescent Moon), William Kircher (The Hobbit Trilogy), Daz Crawford (“Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Stephen Manley (Star Trek III:The Search For Spock ), Tim McGrath (Super Hybrid, 10 Things I Hate About Life), Ashley Park (Terror Tales, Around The Bed), Livvy Stubenrauch (The Labyrinth, Frozen), Marilyn Ghigliotti (Kevin Smith’s Clerks) and Tony Gibons ( Evolution War)
I saw the film (but not in 4k) on release and am fortunate enough to have one of the limited edition blurays of the film and its a film I like to revisit every so often, the team behind the film have done a fantastic job at world building and even though the film runs for just 100 minutes, long after the film has finished, you remember the world and it feels like it is part of a larger film universe. Here’s hoping that we do see a revisit to this world some day.
“Rogue Warrior was an extreme vision for Director Neil Johnson – one that I was happy to delve into with my heart and soul,” said Tracey Birdsall at the time of the films release.. “When a director, such as Neil, trusts you with such a rich and multi-faceted character, you have no choice but to do everything in your power to impress. Unfortunately, it’s gut-wrenching work that not only takes endless hours and months preparing for – but also endless months of healing from both physically and emotionally. I told him (Neil) “I would do it all over again tomorrow in a heartbeat!” and thus he pushed me to even more treacherous character zones in the newly wrapped The Time War. It’s amazing the toll these projects take on an actor – but it’s even more amazing to have a director of this caliber put his faith in you. As an actor, we live for this. As an actor, this is the stuff our dreams were made of.”
Its also worth noting that since the time of the films release it is set to serve as the basis for a television series, Age Of Darkness. The storyline (and world) will expand to show what happens before during and after the story of Rogue Warrior Robot Fighter and I’m very excited about that.
According to writer/director Neil Johnson “We already have 5 hours of additional content shot/edited and awaiting VFX” Whether Age of Darkness will come out before the epic series The Time War is a question on my mind and whilst I cant wait to revisit the world of Sienna (played by Tracey Birdsall) Im also happy in the knowledge that Tracey also stars in The Time War (as a character called Dijanne) so whichever project comes out, Ill be there to see the latest project by the team of Tracey and Neil.
So treat yourself today, tomorrow, but at least in the next few days, and check out Rogue Warrior Robot Fighter before it leaves the free YouTube channel You can watch the film here
