“Paul Giamatti and Alexander Payne join forces for another exceptional film” (The Times) in Focus Features’ latest release, THE HOLDOVERS, which will be available exclusively to rent or buy on digital platforms on February 19, 2024, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. One of the best reviewed films of the year with an impressive 97% Rotten Tomatoes score, THE HOLDOVERS has garnered five Oscar  and seven BAFTA nominations alongside two Golden Globe wins to date.

The immensely touching film marks the reunion between acclaimed Academy Award -winning and BAFTA nominated director Alexander Payne (Election, Sideways, The Descendants) and his Sideways actor and Oscar and BAFTA nominee Paul Giamatti (Billions). Written by BAFTA and Oscar  nominee David Hemingson (Kitchen Confidential), the film features an extraordinary ensemble cast that includes Oscar  and BAFTA nominee Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Dolemite Is My Name, Only Murders in the Building) and Dominic Sessa in his BAFTA nominated feature film debut.

 THE HOLDOVERS follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
