Apple Original Films announced today that Ridley Scott’s acclaimed, action epic feature “Napoleon” will become available on premium video-on-demand and for digital purchase with leading digital retailers, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, beginning this Tuesday, January 9 in over 100 countries, before streaming globally on Apple TV+.
Directed by Scott from a screenplay by David Scarpa, “Napoleon” stars Joaquin Phoenix as the French emperor and military leader. The film is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine, played by Vanessa Kirby. The film captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.
This will likely be the theatrical version which runs at 2 and a half hours rather than the talked about ‘ 3 and a half hour longer version’ of the film which will i’m sure will showcase at some point in the (hopefully near) future. I didnt manage to check out Napoleon on its cinema release but am looking forward to checking the film out when its available for home viewing.
