“What are some of the best horror films out there” is a question that I often hear and every time I hear the question, I often here ‘Inside’ mentioned within the first few titles and its a film that is very much deserving of a place on that list. Martyrs, Frontiers, The Woman, Irreversible.Inside. That’s the list. I have seen all those films other than Frontiers which I thought I had seen but it turns out I hadn’t, so Ill be sorting that out soon, and also Irreversible which I haven’t seen and have no real desire to at the moment. I’ve heard about it and its a little outside my border for horror. I finally got around to seeing Inside and its amazing! Its not a film for the faint hearted so beware! But it is a film that all horror fans should see and definitely deserves a placed on ‘the list’
Second Sight Films have once again treated a great movie with the greatest respect and the limited edition set is a lovely thing! (You can order the set HERE)
Following the death of her husband, an expectant mother is tormented in her home on Christmas Eve by a strange woman who wants her unborn baby. Yep there you go. that is the very basic plot synopsis of 2007’s “Inside” Co-Written and Co-Directed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury and starring Alysson Paradis as Sarah, the expectant mother previously mentioned in this article. But there is nothing basic about this film, it certainly does deserve its place on the list of horror films you should see if you want to push your viewing limits from the ‘regular horror’ movies that fill the multiplexes. “Inside” is such a nightmarish film and definitely should be on your watch list if you love the tougher side of horror films. Its a film I had to psych myself up to watch, Im a little bit of a lightweight when it comes to the more brutal side of horror and usually when ive watched a gem like ‘Inside’ I sort of kick myself and think ‘i should have watched this years earlier’ I did that with ‘Inside’ It has all the ingredients that make for a scary film for me. house invasion, limited location, person in peril, wonderfully shot, perfect run time (the film is as long as the story needs to be) and brilliantly performed.
Inside has now taken its place on my list of ‘oh my- how amazing is that horror film’
