From director Philip Barantini (Boiling Point, Villain) comes Accused, a tale of just how dangerous social media can be. ( @PhilipBarantini @netflixuk)

From director Philip Barantini (Boiling Point, Villain) and writers Barnaby Boulton and James Cummings comes Accused, a new film currently streaming on Netflix. Following a terrorist attack in London, social media quickly decides to turn ‘amateur detective’ and try to find the bombing suspect before the police do and wrongly identifies Harri (brilliantly played by Chaneil Kular) as the bomber and starts to ruin his life with the power of their keyboards. Witnessing this online, Harri very quickly realises that this situation isn’t going to blow over and things get worse and worse for Harri.

To say that I enjoyed Accused is a huge understatement, Accused kept me on the edge of my sofa chair for the full duration of its running time and having spent a lot of time on social media, I have witnessed ‘witch hunts’ and Accused gets this right on the nose when it comes to how craziness like that happens.  It isn’t ruining any plot details when I say that Chaneil Kular is fantastic in this role, even more so because a large amount of his scenes involve his character Harri on his own and so his body language, and his facial expressions are a huge part of the success of him playing the role of the man hiding from anonymous sources.  Accused is the type of film that’s right on my ‘wheel house’ and easily is one of the most tension filled films I’ve seen this year and once again director Philip Barantini has knocked it out of the park with his directing ability.  If you haven’t seen his previous film Boiling Point, do check that out. Boiling Point is also a tension filled adrenaline rush of a movie and at the start of October, we finally get Boiling Point: The TV series which I’m also eager to see.

If you love tense thrillers that are most certainly reality based. I cant recommend Accused enough. If I give star ratings. then Accused gets 5 out of 5
