After an alien ship crash lands onto a Russian city, many who saw it and the occupants start to question their own existence while there are those who demand the aliens leave Earth. This is the premise of the film ‘Attraction’ from Russian film director Fedor Bondarchuk.

Whilst there are many out there who will balk at the thought of watching a subtitled film (but theres also a dubbed version available) Attraction is well worth checking out for fans of not only extremely well made films but also for fans of scifi films as it works on so many levels.Fans of alien invasion films will have a lot of fun watching the film but also fans of much of the young adult franchises such as Divergent or The Maze Runner will also have fun as even though much of this films story beats can be seen in other movies and lets face it, there have been that many alien invasion films over the years, it is becoming pretty difficult to put a new spin on it. However I personally feel that theres no need to put a new spin on a genre I love and have loved since I was a child as film fans do love some familiarity when it comes to our entertainment. Visually this film is stunning with not just the visual effects in space being super impressive but also with the scenes taking place down here on Earth being visually pleasing.

One thing did haunt me long after the film finished though. If ever there was a need for a Top 10 Best Non English Speaking Scifi list, then the time is now, and Attraction, I think, would most certainly be on it.
