Film Stars Dont Die In Liverpool. Coming in November from director Paul McGuigan

FILM STARS DON’T DIE IN LIVERPOOL, directed by Paul McGuigan (SherlockLucky Number Slevin) and starring Annette Bening (American Beauty20th Century WomenThe Kids Are All Right) and Jamie Bell (Billy ElliotJane EyreThe Adventures of Tintin), will open across the UK on 17 November. Based on Peter Turner’s memoir, the film follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Bell) and the eccentric Academy Award®-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Bening).

Liverpool, 1978: What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort. Their passion and lust for life is tested to the limits by events beyond their control. Gloria Grahame was a Hollywood leading lady at the heart of several hit films from the Golden Age of Hollywood, including The Big Heat, It’s a Wonderful LifeIn a Lonely Place, and Oklahoma! She won the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Bad and the Beautiful.

FILM STARS DON’T DIE IN LIVERPOOL also stars Julie Walters (BrooklynPaddington), and Vanessa Redgrave (AtonementFoxcatcher), with Kenneth Cranham (MaleficentLayer Cake), Stephen Graham (This is EnglandTaboo), Frances Barber (Medici, Mr. Holmes), and Leanne Best (Line of DutyUndercover) rounding out a stellar British cast.

The film was produced by Barbara Broccoli (SpectreSkyfall) and Colin Vaines (Gangs of New YorkCoriolanus) with a screenplay written by BAFTA winner Matt Greenhalgh (ControlNowhere Boy), and was shot on location in Liverpool and London, and at Pinewood Studios.

FILM STARS DON’T DIE IN LIVERPOOL will be released in the UK on 17 November 2017 through Lionsgate UK.
