With over 40 acting roles since his debut in Nico (a.k.a. Above The Law) Steven Seagal has pretty much stuck to exactly the same formula for most if not all of his film projects. But that’s not a bad thing for his fans as it means they have a huge supply of action films to delve into whenever they wish to, and with no sign of him slowing down, the idea of a Steven Seagal box set in the future seems very appealing to fill up a couple of weeks worth of film watching.

In his latest film Mercenary:Absolution released by High Fliers Films here in the UK, We see Steven Seagal in the role of Alexander, a mercenary with a wonderful set of skills. When Alexander is recruited by his old boss to take out an Afghan drug dealer. Concerned is raised that he may try to sell information on the fact that profits from heroin in the world are being split between the powerful families in Afghanistan and the most powerful but also secretive groups in the US. Things also get more complicated when Alexander rescues a victims of human trafficking and becomes convinced that the Afghan drug lord and the sex trafficking is somehow linked to each other.

That’s pretty much the plot you need, the rest is down to the fighting sequences (hand to hand, and of course gun battles) that feature in most films that Steven Seagal appears in. The fighting is standard and by that it’s the standard set by Steven Seagals real life fight training. Always watchable, always minimal with dialogue but full on with action. Mercenary:Absolution is yet another fun, exciting chapter in the Seagal film list and whilst not reaching the high levels of Out For Justice, Marked for Death or Under Siege, It most certainly is better than many films Mr Seagal has given the world. Well worth ninety minutes of your time.

Along for the ride this time are such actors as Vinnie Jones (X Men The Last Stand) and Byron Mann (Arrow).

Check out Mercenary:Absolution. Out on DVD now from High Fliers Films.
