The Red Road is a brand new original series from the AMC stable who brought Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Walking Dead.

“Best new series” – Rolling Stone
“Excellent” – New York Times
“Well acted, well shot and intriguing series”– The Hollywood Reporter
The Red Road is about two warring communities in the state of New Jersey and features a fantastic cast including; Jason Momoa (Game Of Thrones, Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice) and Martin Henderson (Secrets & Lies, Devil’s Knot.) amongst many others.

Whilst the main focus of the plot is the warrning communities, its the reasons behind the conflicts that are the spark for this show. Emotions are high, long running grievances refuse to go away and theres even a hint of a Romeo and Juliet style storyline running through The Red Road.
Such a wonderful series that should find its home on DVD for the main reason being that its a slow burning series that takes its time to immerse you in the world of its characters and the situations they find themselves in (or put themselves in) I cant imagine any better way than to watch the six episodes over a day or three. I watched three episodes a day (each one forty five minutes long) and within two days. I had the show done and was eagerly hoping there would be a season two. Some shows are best binge watched and The Red Road is most definately one of them.
Jason Momoa is excellent in the role of Phillip Kopus, an ex con who returns home after several years away and this is a character you both fear, but also love to see on screen. I cant sing enough priase on this show but do be warned. If you seek an action packed MTV edited style show, then The Red Road might not be for you. But if you like story driven, character based drama, then please do give The Red Road a go.

Season 2 begins airing in the US, April 2nd 2015 but I will be hoping it is again picked up by Entertainment One so I can watch it all at my own leisure. I for one cant wait to watch it and so far The Red Road is one of the best new shows I ave seen for a while.
THE RED ROAD: THE COMPLETE FIRST SERIES IS AVAILABLE ON DVD ON 6TH APRIL, COURTESY OF ENTERTAINMENT ONE
