Its being reported that the FOX  has handed out a hefty request for a US remake of the hit UK show Luther.

Fox’s remake is looking to be based on the original format created by Neil Cross and will center on John Luther.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Neil Cross is on board to build the script as well as be an executive producer.

The worrying thing for fans of the UK show is that Idris Elba is not currently attached to have an onscreen role in the show but will also executive produce.

The news of the Fox remake comes after Neil Cross has been public for a while now about wanting to create a feature film prequel of the series.  There was also talk in the past about an Alice spin off show (Alice being a mrjor character in many of the shows episodes)

I dont know what to think about this news. On one hand I would much rather see Idris return to a fourth series of Luther, but if thats not going to happen then why not remake it in the USA. That might make more people seek out the UK show which is easily one of the best UK dramas of recent years.
