As I often mention, I dont watch as many short films as I should. I am getting better at that but still nowhere near up to speed.
One of the ones I recently checked out was this one.
Documented, by Nick Trenchard.
I got in touch with Nick and asked him a little bit more about the short film. He very kindly replied with the following.
“My short film is actually a scene/teaser from the film I’d love to make. I added an ending and some credits type bits to put it in context so to speak. Its going to be a found footage project obviously.
I then pressed him to write up a summary for the 7 minute film.
“A guy is filming everything he does for a film he is making. He goes back to his ground floor flat and puts the camera on his dashboard. He gets a phone call on his way home so pulls over and answers it. Its his neighbour calling to tell him his back door is wide open.”
Nick did then go into more details but to be honest, Ive opted not to type that in here because it does kind of tell you the story of the rest of the clip, and I, and Im sure Nick would rather you took out 7 minutes to check the short film out for yourself.
I liked it. Yes Im a little worn out by the found footage ‘genre’ but as long as theres a plot explanation for the reason behind camcorders being in the film. Im okay with it.
Check the short out. Let me know what you think of it and Ill pass the comments onto Nick.
If Nick does read this then do keep me updated with the progress of making the feature length.
