From Screen to Stage with the wonderful @GeorgiaGroome

Its that time of week again where I wave the flag for one of the most powerful films that I have seen. 2006’s London to Brighton by Paul Andrew Williams. But I am not going to be talking about Paul other than this mention, this article is to tell you about another one of the stars of London to Brighton. Miss Georgia Groome.

I (re)watched London to Brighton again the other day with Annette and also a friend of mine (Bob) as he and I will be chatting about the film in an up and coming podcast segment. Georgia Groome (Joanne) was 14 in that film but that was 2006 and Miss Groome has been busy with her life and many more projects since that day. Eden Lake, The Cottage and even more recently the two part TV show ‘Up The Women’.

Even more up to date information is that Georgia will be appearing in the stage show Tutto Bene, Mamma?  Directed by Ewan Marshall and written by Gloria Mina.

The show is on from June 15 2013 until July 06 2013.

A short while back, Annette & I ventured into a theatre to see a stage play by Scot Williams. It was an amazing night and the first time I had been in a theatre for many, many years. I still remember how wonderful that evening was even to this day (for both shows) I love watching movies and shows on the screen but there is something even more magical about being in the room with talent and watching them perform on stage, with no retakes, no editing and no close up camera angles or visual effects that are done with cameras or software. Stage shows take the creative talent right back to the bone and shows what can be done with fantastic writing and talented actors.

It is events like this what make me wish i was closer to London, closer to shows like Tutte Bene, Mamma. so that I can attend. Lets put it this way. If I find myself living nearer to ‘the big smoke’ then I shall be venturing into these shows far more than I do.

Yes they do have theatres in Manchester but for now I am focusing on this show. In London, in June and July.

So for those who can get to London. For those who live in London and who want a great evening out. Check out the show. You can find ticket information for Tutte Bene, Mamma on The Print Rooms page at http://www.the-print-room.org/

For anyone reading this who does see the show. Drop me a review at frompage2screen@gmail.com and I would love to go through it on the blog and podcasts.

The very best of luck to all those involved in the stage play and checking out The Print Rooms website, it looks like a fantastic intimate venue.

On Tuesday nights (June 18, 25, & July 2) after the show, Dr Cindy Lawford will discuss the themes and issues raised in the play TUTTO BENE, MAMMA? Free to all ticket holders.
