Paul gives Marion her song created by @steelmillpaul (Song for Marion – Feb 22 2013)

Recently  we all ventured out to the cinema with the purpose of watching two films. One of them Jack Reacher, the other The Life of Pi.

Sadly due to stupid scheduling and the fact that more screens were taken up with various versions of Les Miserable, we ended up having to pick just one film to watch today and delay the other until another day

It was put down to a vote and Jack lost by one and Pi was victorious.

What can I say about The Life of Pi, well quiet a bit actually but before that I want to tell you about a wonderful surprise that we saw in the previews.

Song for Marion.

When the trailer began the first familiar face was the wonderful Terence Stamp. Terence is awesome and I can never see enough films with this guy in. Yes he might always be General Zod or The Limey to me, but seeing Terence warmed my heart in this trailer. It was a few seconds in when his character mentioned the name ‘Marion’ that I realised I was in fact watching the trailer for Paul Andrew Williams latest film ‘Song for Marion’

Now this wasnt the first time I had heard of this film, i recently read an interview with P A Williams in Empire where he talked about making a film that his Mother could see. But this was the first time I had seen a trailer for the film and I was very impressed.

This film looks like it should be in the same category as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and when I say that I mean it as a huge compliment. Excellent cast, very funny dialogue and a few shots of slapstick. Its not often that a film can hook me with a trailer, this Song for Marion has done that. I shall indeed be venturing out to the large screen to see this one when it arrives February 22nd 2013. Less than a month away.

I recommend that you do the same if you like feelgood, funny, well written and well cast films.

To excite yourself as much as I did, heres the trailer for you to check out.

Oh,I almost forgot. The Life of Pi. Beautiful film.

Beautiful Score, extremely impressive visual effects (a rare time that Im fine with CGI in a film)

It should win a few technical Oscars, I dont think one of them will be Best Picture. Just a hunch. But if you want to watch a different type of film. Then definitely check out Pi’s Life

The one downside was a noisy couple who felt talk talking loudly for the last fifteen minutes was acceptable. I told them to shoosh a couple of times and also on the way out said to the cinema usher.

‘its people like that who talk through a film thats stopping people from coming to the cinema, not piracy’

Im sure that cutting remark makes no difference to anyone. But oh I hate annoying cinema goers.
