Second Sight Films release Ti West’s ‘The Sacrament’. Out now on Limited Edition & Standard Edition Blu-ray. ( @SecondSightFilm )

One of the most prominent horror filmmakers of his generation, Ti West has directed a slew of successful films, including XPearlThe House of the DevilThe Innkeepers and the upcoming MaXXXine (which I am so excited for). Now The Sacrament, the director’s 2013 film is the latest horror to get the Second Sight Films Limited Edition Blu-ray treatment, which is out now alongside a Standard Edition.

The new collector’s edition is presented in a rigid slipcase with new artwork by Chris Malbon along with a 70-page booklet with new essays and a raft of fantastic special features, including new interviews, a newly edited making of documentary and more.. Second Sight Films have quickly become my go to label for physical media. Not just for the films they select to release (and their list so far is fantastic) but also the love and attention to detail they give each release. From the picture and sound restorations, to the packaging the discs come in, and my very favourite thing about physical media- the special features. The Sacrament has been given this wonderful treatment.  But for those of you not familiar with Ti West’s 2013 film, what is it about?

The Sacrament takes us into a small news team where we meet Sam (played by AJ Bowen) and Jake (played by Joe Swanberg) who accompany Patrick (played by Kentucker Audley)who wants to retrieve his sister who has run off to join a cult. Sam and Jake want to film the experiences for their news channel and with Patrick in agreement The three men travel to Eden Parish and the documentary filming begins Upon first appearances, Eden Parish looks like a wonderful friendly place to live, but remember. This is a film by Horror Master Ti West, so a nice family friendly viewing experience…this wont be!

The Sacrament is a cracker of a film, it looks great with the Second Sight Film restoration and whilst it may take you a few minutes to settle into the camera shooting style of the film (the early scenes are made to look documentary style) you’ll quickly become engrossed in what on earth is going on within the Eden Parish ‘cult’ (spoiler: you don’t want to join!)  When ti West released The Sacrament, he already had some horror gems under his belt (The Innkeepers, The House Of The Devil, and segments in VHS, and ABCs of Death) and The Sacrament is another great example of why Ti has continued to excite horror fans about any project he is attached to. If you haven’t seen The Sacrament, then I do highly recommend the Second Sight Films release, as not only do you get the best restoration of the film in both sound and picture, but it comes packed with just over 2 and a half hours of extra features. Those are listed below.
