Barry (played by Gary Green) , is a drug-addled, abusive horrible person who after yet another boozed filled bender is abducted by aliens.
The alien lifeform them hijacks Barry’s body and then proceeds to take it for a joyride through Cape Town. What follows for Barry is an onslaught of drugs, sex, violence and weirdness as the alien tourist enters the weird and wonderful world of the human race.
This feature film by Ryan Kruger whilst based upon his 2017 short film of the same name expands the story of Fried Barry and turns up the strangeness to unmeasurable limits. Its a film that will stick with you for a long time to come, partly due to the strangeness of the film itself, but more because of the insanely crazy and wonderful performance by Gary Green as Barry. Definitely worth checking out and gets a 10 out of 10 on the bat sh*t crazy film scale. Great work by Ryan Kruger and of course all the cast and crew. Fried Barry is on the Shudder platform and I highly recommend checking this film out. After watching Fried Barry, I quickly added the films director Ryan Kruger to my ‘filmmakers to keep an eye on’ list as he is definitely one of the most exciting and unique film voices out there.
For those who dont have Shudder and perhaps have way too many streaming platforms, dont worry. You can now treat yourself to Fried Barry on bluray, which also comes with a bunch of special features which include

Many people complain that there just arent enough original films out there, well if thats you, then Fried Barry is for YOU. Its one of the most original films ive seen for a long time, and Ryan Kruger is one of the most original film voices ive seen for a while too.
