From Director Hannah May Cumming, Check out the super cool giallo style horror ‘Fanatico’ (2019) @hannahmayfilm )

Having seen the super cool short film Baby Fever at last years Grimmfest and also having the chance to sit down with the filmmaker herself Hannah May Cumming, I have managed to track down her 2019 short film ‘Fanatico, which is yet another cracker of a short film clearly made by a lover of the horror genre and also someone that knows a lot about the genre itself. ‘Fanatico is a super stylish film that fans of Dario Argento and giallo films will adore.  Fanatico takes us into the world of Sophia (played by Morgan Demetre) who attends the Santa Maria School For Girls and who finds out her roommate Daria  (played by Alina Stircu ) is a prostitute, sorry As Daria refers to herself. a ‘civil servant’ and the roomies fall out about it.   Add to the storyline a crazy nun played by Judith Conly and we are for a batshit crazy 18 minute film.  Fanatico is a really interesting story and one that does beg to be expanded into a feature at some point but its the style of the film, its the cinematography of Fanatico and the musical score  that elevates this many levels above other short films which might have a similiar storyline. and will make fans of the 70s Italian slasher films just giddy as they watch what Hannah May Cumming has done here.  Whilst Fanatico was made before Baby Fever, it certainly cements my belief that Hannah May Cumming is definately one hell of a writer/filmmaker.
