A brutal enforcer returns home after a ten-year absence to embark on a gruesome quest for vengeance against the crime family that kidnapped his son and left him for dead. Bull is written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams and was a film I first saw in 2021 and to say I liked it, is a huge understatement. In fact you can read my thoughts that that I wrote at the time here . Bull received (as well it should have) great reviews on its big screen run, then on its video rental run, and also on its video on demand run and I have been holding out for a physical release for the film to add to my Paul Andrew Williams collection. To say I’ve also overjoyed at Second Sight Films putting the film out on bluray is my second understatement in this article as they do love to treat films with care and attention and Bull certainly has that. There are two editions coming out, the standard (although there is nothing standard about Bull) and the very attractive Limited Edition which includes some very cool art cards and a great little book which gives some great insights into the film. This is the edition I opted for and it looks glorious! It arrived a couple of days before the official release date which of course Im happy about. I’m also hoping that at some point I can add a Paul Andrew Williams signature to my collection. (and perhaps some of the other cast too, and it is a very impressive cast)
Bull stars Neil Maskell in the title role and also features
David Hayman (Sid & Nancy, Trial and Retribution)
Tamzin Outhwaite (BBCs Eastenders, The Haunting of Alice Bowles)
Kellie Shirley ( In the Long Run, BBCs Eastenders)
Mark Springer (Kingslayer, Acceptable Damage)
Laura McAlpine (A Confession, Murdered by my Boyfriend)
Jake Davies (TVs Screw,The Missing)
Henri Charles ( Thomas & Friends: Race for The Sodor Cup, BBCs Eastenders)
Lois Brabin-Platt ( The Bezonians, Righteous Villains)
David Nellist (A Confession,Sket)
Its not just the art cards (and the film) that’s got me excited, check out the other special features, If you havent listened to one of Pauls commentaries, do check them out, they are not just a great insight into the film that they happened to be attached too, but they are a really good ‘film school’ on how the film was put together.
