Its not the first time that a film studio has changed footage within a film thats already out in the wild. Universal did it with ET and Star Wars has been done countless times, as has Blade Runner and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. but its been a while since we learned about tweaks to a film many years after it was made. However earlier this year Toy Story 2 was released on bluray and unbeknownst to most Disney had quietly deleted a scene from Toy Story 2 that joked about the casting couch. This scene has now gone not just from the bluray but also from any digital download versions that can be purchased since the rerelease.
“You know, I’m sure I could get you a part in ‘Toy Story 3,'” Stinky Pete says, as he strokes one of the Barbies’ hands. He then realizes he’s on camera and excuses the Barbies. “All right girls, lovely talking with you,” he says. “Yes, any time you’d like some tips on acting, I’d be glad to chat with you. All right, off you go, then.”
Whilst im never a fan of editing films after their release, I can see why they have removed the scene, as a whole new generation of children are watching the franchise due to the newly released Toy Story 4.even if I dont agree with post film tinkering. Films are made of our time, and with millions of DVDs, and Blu rays out there showing the scene. Will removing the scene change anything.
