Spending Time With Aaron Jacques ( @aaronmjacques )

Aaron Jacques was introduced to me by Tracey Birdsall (Rogue Warrior, Whos Jenna) and Neil Johnson (The Time War, Starship Rising) and was wonderfully generous with me to take some time out and go through the Spending Time With questions that many other filmmakers have been kind enough to answer.  Whilst Aaron might be best known for roles in He is known for his work on I Might Even Love You (1998) and Diary of a Fatman (2016). For me its his work with Neil Johnson that has be excited. With is first appearance in a NJ project being 2014’s Starship Rising where Aaron played the role of ‘Starship Captain’ and has sinec appeared in several other Johnson films to this date, with The Time War being the next one out of the gate. So instead of spending time reading me typing. Lets get around to Spending Time With Aaron Jacques.

What’s the most ‘starstruck’ you have been?

Having grown up in the entertainment industry, and especially in Southern California, I met a lot of cool and famous people from a young age but the most memorable experience was seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger at a local market and then realizing he had a vacation house in the area. For some reason that just stuck with me because he was a super nice guy and I was just this random kid to him.

What was one of the most memorable films you saw as a child?

The films I remember the best were “What About Bob?” and “Harold and Maude” which are two totally different types of films but I often watched them with my family.

What is one of the best pieces of advice you can remember being given?

I’ve been given a lot of advice and often times never took it since growing up I always needed to learn something for myself, but I can vividly remember an old friends dad telling me to always “work smarter, not harder.”

Have you ever gotten someone’s autograph?  Which is the most memorable for you?

Mike Myers from Austin Powers was by far one they I remember the most but I did get a lot of them and somehow managed to not have any of them as an adult, haha

Do you have any traditions that you have when you are involved in a project?

Getting to know the fellow cast and crew right off the bat, always have to get a feel for other people and get out of that comfort zone. Even if you have to awkwardly do it.

What was the most recent book you read?

Napoleon Hill’s “Think And Grow Rich,” and currently re-reading “The Magus” by John Fowles.”

Out of all the projects youve been involved with which one do you feel the most proud of?

One of my most recently projects that hasn’t been released yet where I portrait Jesus Christ. Check out “The Time War” once it’s released! Check out my Instagram (@consciousavocado) for some sneak peaks, though! What film scares you? I haven’t been scared by a film in a long time, sure, some make me uncomfortable knowing how realistic they are, etc. if it’s horror related, but I wouldn’t say “scaredy” is the word! 🙂

What is the ONE single coolest movie geek thing you own?

Honestly I don’t personally own any movie relics, I’m in a house of filmmakers so we have some pretty awesome things but I cant say any of them belong to me.

When you are being interviewed Do you prefer ‘interviews’ face to face, over the phone/podcast or by email?

It all depends, there are so many factors that make face to face much better than podcast or even video chat, but at the same time video chat can be more comfortable depending on the individual hosting the interview or location, etc. I love all ways and can’t really choose a preferred way.

When a film or TV show comes out that you are in, what one person do you want to watch it first?

Usually my group of friends or the person I’m dating at the time, but as I’ve gotten older it’s mainly just allowing it all to unfold and be watched as it naturally does!

What was the last album you listened to? “

That Lonesome Song” by Jamey Johnson

With regards to your own projects? What are you working on that you can tell me about?

Building a base for getting my photography into the Fine Art world and up on the walls of establishments and some high end real estate is what I’ve been working on lately! Not acting related, though definitely a huge project I’ve been working on. Let’s shine a light on some of your past work.

Which of your projects are you most proud of?

As I mentioned earlier but I have to use it again with this answer cause it’s a great piece, but my role as Jesus Christ in “The Time War” is something I cannot wait for the world to see. As a kid I grew up doing a lot of ads and commercials which as an adult I’m still super proud of those because of the memories I have doing them.

Do you remember who got your first autograph?

I don’t!!! And I just sat here for a while trying to go back and I just cannot remember.

If you can sit down with any one living person and chat to them for two hours? Who would you choose?

Living, my mother, 100% hands down. Not living, Jack Parsons!

What’s the most difficult thing about your creative journey?

Getting paid what your time is worth, and having other people understand that, haha And, the flipside.

What’s the most enjoyable for you?

Photography, definitely. It’s everything from a source of income, to a hobby and passion of mine, and my largest creative outlet at the moment.

Many thanks to Aaron for taking time out, and I look forward to seeing your future appearances in many films that I will be watching.
