What happened to…Rae Dawn Chong

If you were around in the 1980s and were a fan of action films then you will know the face of Rae Dawn Chong, the Canadian actress who is perhaps most famous for her role as Cindy in the 1986 Arnie starring film Commando, and her role of Squeak in the Oscar nominated film The Color Purple (which I rewatched earlier today and its fantastic if you haven’t seen it) But this got me to thinking, what happened to Rae Dawn Chong. I hadn’t seen her on screen in a while? Has she retired? Well no she certainly hasn’t and it just seems to be the case that the projects she has been working on over the past few years, I just haven’t seen (not that I was avoiding them, I just haven’t seen them)

Whilst she rounded out the 80s starring along with James Belushi in The Principal, Rae worked through the 90s appearing in such films and shows as Chaindance, Nite Cap, appearances in TVs The Outer Limits, and Melrose Place, In fact in the 90s alone, she appeared in a huge list of projects and never stopped working. As the 2000s began she worked a lot in television in shows such as Wild Card, Mysterious Ways,Pegasus V Chimera, and much more.  All in all Rae Dawn Chong has over 70 credits to her name since her first role way back in 1974s The Whiz Kid and The Mystery at Riverton and so has not retired at all. She is alive and well and working hard.  Phew!
