All Creatures Great & Small Series 7’ – ‘the most life-affirming series’ returns for another ‘dose of cosy, sofa-bound escapism’

This endlessly entertaining drama – based on the popular novels and life of veterinary surgeon and writer James Herriot (aka James Alfred Wight OBE) – has solidified itself as one of the nation’s best-loved shows and is now 5’s most successful series, capturing the hearts of audiences across the globe.

The latest series takes us to 1946 Yorkshire, and with World War II finally over, Skeldale House is livelier than ever with familiar faces reuniting under one roof, as they look ahead to a hopeful new chapter. James (Nicholas Ralph – The Most Reluctant Convert) is excited about new developments in veterinary medicine, but when rival vet Granville Bennett (Caolan McCarthy – Belfast) pulls up in a flashy red sports car, his presence threatens to challenge the status quo, sparking instant resentment and suspicion among some of the locals, and a grudging admiration from Tristan (Callum Woodhouse – The Durrells).

Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley – Deadwater Fell, In Bruges) navigates her feelings around Siegfried (Samuel West – Slow Horses, Darkest Hour) and Dorothy’s (Maimie McCoy – The Musketeers, The Libertine) deepening relationship, while Tristan’s romance with Charlotte (Gaia Wise – A Walk in the Woods) faces potential hurdles when she considers leaving Darrowby. James and Helen’s (Rachel Shenton – Hollyoaks, White Gold) eldest child, Jimmy, officially starts school, giving Helen time to look to the future and modernise the farm. The world at large may be changing, but the Dales offer the perfect sanctuary as always.

Packed with warmth, humour and community spirit, All Creatures Great & Small Series 7, brings more heartwarming tales of humans and animals alike. With an eighth series already confirmed, now is the perfect time to cosy up with ‘the most charming drama on TV’ (Daily Mail) for a soul soothing slice of family life this festive season.
