Pernicious, starring Emmy-nominated Emily O’Brien (Young and the Restless), Ciara Hanna (Power Rangers) and Jackie Moore (100 Ghost Street),
“a carnival for the eyes” (Dread Central)
“sexy, bloody, and heinous” (Horror News).
Pernicious tells of Alex, Julia and Rachel, three girls who are holidaying in Thailand for the month, and who unleash the spirit of Vanida, a murdered child with only one thing on her mind – revenge and right from the very start we know we are in for a tough horror film.
With moments in the film that are pretty close to the brutality of films such as Hostel, Saw, and Wolf Creek. Its definitely an adult horror film and isnt one for anyone remotely squeamish. Whilst the film shows us that age old storyline (which works) where we see people making wrong decision after wrong decision and sure enough. It gets them into trouble. In Pernicious. It flips it in a different direction which is for the better.
Definitely a film that horror fans should check out, and I am glad that I managed to see it. Although I wished I hadnt been eating food as the film ran. Not a wise move.
