Great week for film fans in the UK. This coming Monday sees the DVD & Blu ray release of writer/director Eran Creevy’s Welcome To The Punch, a crime thriller that is one of the best films that I have seen so far this year. I saw the film on its cinema release and it looks stunning.

With a Q & A with writer/director Eran Creevy (who previously wrote and directed the film ‘Shifty) I shall definitely be heading for the special features as soon as I have finished (re)watching the film

With a cast of James McAvoy, Mark Strong, Andrea Riseborough and the fantastic Johnny Harris.

I loved the whole film, the way it was shot, the writing, the acting, the score. Johnny Harris is fantastic in the film (as he is in all the films and TV shows I have seen him in so far) and so far wins my award for ‘Scariest character in a UK film’ and also ‘Scariest Beard in Movie History’ Hats off to Johnny for turning in yet another screen triumph. This guy is on the short list of people who have had a 100% success rate (in my opinion) I’ve never seen him in a bad role.

Welcome To The Punch tells us the story of Ex-criminal Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) who is forced to return to London when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. This gives his nemesis, detective Max Lewinsky (James McAvoy), one last chance to catch the man he’s been after for several years.
