As horror enjoys a thrilling new renaissance this year, fresh from an awards season dominated by the genre, there couldn’t be a better time for The House of Hammer.  Each issue will celebrate Britain’s rich horror heritage, pairing that exploration with carefully curated content to complement the ongoing restorations and collector’s editions across the Hammer and Hammer Presents ranges.

Created for collectors, cinephiles, and lovers of genre cinema, The House of Hammer is both a tribute to Hammer’s remarkable past and a celebration of wider British horror, both past and present – from Van Helsing and Dracula to Dr. Phibes and Matthew Hopkins.

A multi-format experience that blends print, video and visuals – each exciting instalment of The House of Hammer takes film and horror enthusiasts on a journey through the extensive Hammer library and beyond, boasting never-before-seen and newly created material; from documentaries and short films, to exclusives and a look behind-the-curtain into the filmmaking process – all accompanied by a 120-page book featuring filmmaker profiles, making-of stories, and more…

Volume 1 Highlights include:

The Land Demands Blood
An examination of the work of contemporary Cornish filmmakers like Bait’s Mark Jenkin, and the fundamental connection between Cornwall’s landscape and British horror films such as Hammer Presents title Doctor Blood’s Coffin.

Masques, Monsters and Madmen
Part 1 of a new, feature-length documentary about AIP, one of Hammer’s main competitors in ’60s/’70s British horror.

A 120-page book featuring new articles on the making of Cry of the Banshee, an exploration of the British horror genre, AIP and Roger Corman’s ‘Poe Cycle’ of films starring Vincent Price, a profile of British indie horror filmmakers Caralan Productions, Hammer’s films outside of the horror genre, and an archive interview with Vincent Price.

Plus, trailers, unseen images, and so much more.
