It’s time for ‘action’ for the award-winning existential comedy drama The Martini Shot, that sees Hollywood mainstay Matthew Modine take to the other side of the camera, starring as an eccentric filmmaker with a terminal illness, who embarks on a journey of self-discovery while grappling with his impending death.
From acclaimed writer-director Stephen Wallis (The Performance) the film features an all-star ensemble including Fiona Glascott, Stuart Townsend, Jason London, John Cleese, Sir Derek Jacobi and Morgana Robinson. Following its multi-award winning run on the festival circuit, the film is set to arrive on UK digital 2 March, courtesy of Miracle Media.
Knowing the end is in sight, director Steve (Modine) begins production on his parting magnum opus – a ‘transcendental’ film set to shoot across rural Ireland.
Inspired by the belief that he is the only real element in his universe, Steve begins to blur the boundaries between the past and present, assembling a crackpot crew comprised of friends and colleagues – both living and dead – who all help in bringing the unconventional creative’s ideas to life.
As his health starts to decline, the auteur attempts to right his wrongs and use what little time he has left to discover the true meaning of life, mortality and one’s profound impact on the world. But can he find what he’s looking for before the universe decides ‘that’s a wrap’?
Combining surreal and supernatural influences, The Martini Shot is a joyous and philosophical journey into the unknown and a stark reminder to live life to the very fullest.
